It's supposed to snow tomorrow, but it's 72 today!
Finger Foods
So anyway, if anyone out there has a great finger food that is nutritious and easy to prepare (or already prepared), post a comment! I feel like I am rotating the same few foods over and over again. (We are eating a lot of fruits and veggies, cheese, pasta with various sauces, canned chicken, nutrigrain bars, and whatever the family is having for dinner).

almost 3
-When we go to the park, she gets out of the car and runs to the playground, she doesn't even wait for me.
-She climbs all of the super dangerous, non-stairs, ways to get up to the slides. If she sees another kid do it, she's in! Hopefully there won't be a cast in our future.
-We had Bible Study last night and there are 4 kids between 8-11. Aubrey wanted to play in the backyard with them. She totally ran in the midst of their football game, trying to be a big kid, hanging out in the huddles, running around, having a blast. What? Who is this kid?
-She tells me, "Mommy, I need you. Hug me." I love this.
-She loves Sesame Street and is doing great with her language development.
-She learned how to blow bubbles and a pinwheel last week.
-She asks for privacy when using the bathroom.
-Whenever I am cleaning she asks if we are having friends over :)
-She can't wait to to turn three and go to the doctor to get shots. I know, weird?
-She is just so big! It is hard to imagine that she once fit in my uterus!

Oh Gosh!!!
But, the reason for this post is a bit more grave. Aubrey is still terrified of bugs. It is so sad. We just went outside a few minutes ago, and within two minutes she was SCREAMING, "Oh gosh, Mommy! A bubble bee." I'm pretty sure it was a fly, but still. So we walked over to the play area and I told her I would sit close to keep guard. The first sand toy she went to pick up had a rather large spider in it. I dumped it on the patio, to which Aubrey exclaimed. "MOM, OH GOSH, ITTY, BITTY, PIDER!" insert ear piercing screams throughout that statement. She then grabbed my leg and said, "Mommy, touch me." How cute is that? So I started rubbing her back and she said "all better, inside show." So here we are watching "Teddy Pete" (Sesame Street) on a beautiful warm Spring day. And since it is trash day, Ainsley is now awake a half hour early. Gotta attend to that!

More Zoo Fun
We went to the Zoo on Saturday. It was already going to be a crazy day, Laina's Birthday party, Mike's parents flying in, you know a typical Saturday. But Mike wanted to go to the zoo with my mom, myself, and the kids, so Saturday it was. We had been saving some firsts for Mikey. It was well worth the wait.
Cozy place for a nap!
We rode the train for the very first time. I knew it was a mistake. Aubrey kept saying "more rite too too tain." all day. I'm sure she will also say it every time we go to the zoo for the rest of the summer. Oh well, it had to happen sooner or later.
Ainsley loved it too. She thought it was really fun.
Then Aubrey rode the carousel for the first time. She LOVED it. It was her first "ride" ever. I am looking forward to the fair!
It went really fast in my opinion. My camera thought so too. Aubrey kept talking about how it went up and down and so fast.
We went home briefly and then headed to Laina's party napless. We left the party a little after 5pm. Look what Aubrey did in the car on the way home.
Ainsley slept too. And don't worry, she is usually secured better than this. It must not have been tightened after the jacket came off.
1 Year Stats
30 inches tall
Cute as a button
She is in perfect health, in spite of a nasty fall down the stairs a week ago. We are holding off on her MMR shot for either her 15 or 18 month check-up. The doctor suggested we get the chicken pocks vaccine at 15 months and MMR at 18 months since there has been an outbreak of the pocks recently in our area. Apparently a lot of school age kiddos are coming down with it since they didn't get their recommended booster. Good times!

One more pee pee post
Why is this still happening?
So we have been in the realm of two intentional accidents a day ever since. I'm doing the whole no emotion, no attention thing, but she is still getting something out of it that she wants because the behavior continues. By far, this is the worst part of parenting that I have dealt with so far. Too see such willful defiance from such a sweet, "innocent" girl kills me! I am going to limit her liquids to meal times only for a few days and see if I can control it better. She loves to drink, so if I tell her she can't have something to drink because it will make her have to pee, and I don't want my carpet (or couch) to get pee on it, maybe I can get back a little control back. Only time will tell.
Update: While at Target today Aubrey used the public restroom. This is her new thing, she has to pee wherever we go. I was still very proud of her. I bought a few little items that I am going to wrap and put in a treasure box. I have some incentive charts, and I am going to give her stickers twice a day, if she stays dry until nap, and if she stays dry until bedtime. I might give stickers too for waking up dry, but I haven't decided yet. When she fills up the chart, she can pick a wrapped prize (new barrettes, water shoes that I bought for $1 at the end of last season, an echo megaphone,...). Then when she fills up x amount of charts she can trade them in for a character backpack or suitcase. She really wants one and has been talking about it nonstop for a few weeks. I will need it to take more than three weeks for the grand finale since she is always dry for three weeks. That is my new plan anyway. I hate rewarding bad behavior, but punishing it certainly isn't working for me. I don't want to get into a cycle of doing this for months and months, but again, the cycle of me cleaning pee out of my carpet isn't too fun either!
The pink monkey in the picture... Aubrey convinced me to get it for her at the zoo. It was $11.17 after tax. The lady asked me if I wanted to make a donation to the zoo. I told her I just donated $11.17. I was then asked if I wanted to add a plush lion to my order for $12.50 (half price) to benefit their lion habitat. I told the nice lady that the zoo was welcome to use the $11.17 towards the lion habitat. She laughed at me at least. My lesson, don't walk near the gift shop. She is apparently at that age!

Question for April
Do you disinfect your kids toys? If so, how often? I usually do the play kitchen and food about once a month, but I don't do much with the rest. I was just wondering what other parents are doing with the germ factor. Also, do you bleach bath toys regularly? Since Ainsley is in the "stick everything in her mouth stage" I've been thinking about this lately.

ch...ch...ch...changes
Sadly, Ainsley has stopped letting me feed her. She blocks me, knocks the spoon from my hand, spits the food out, wipes it on her hand, and then rubs it through her hair. So I guess I am done making baby food! It's a total bummer because at least you know how much they are eating when you are feeding them. So for breakfast, I got about 3 ounces down of oatmeal with apples and cinnamon and a third of a nutrigrain bar. For lunch she had shredded cheese, quesadilla, peas, carrots, corn, and egg noodles. She may of ate about .5 ounces of strained peas. It was hard to tell with her spitting it all out. Who knows what dinner will hold. A new stage, for a new year!
Other little changes: she is using language more and more. She called me "Mommy" today instead of "mama" Mike is "Daddy" she says "haaii" for hi. She has also said "duck" and "poop" but I don't know if she will hold onto these words or if they will float away for a bit. She says "buh buh" for bye bye, and says "boo." She has also started screaming when she is happy, and Aubrey has joined in. Yuck! It was so nice to be done with the screaming stage with Aubrey and now I am it is again with Aubrey and Ainsley!
